The
meeting that was attended by the District heads of departments, members
of the civil society and RIC-NET team in the district council hall
discussed a number of issues and way forward for the center.
In
his opening remarks the District Population Officer welcomed all
members for having turned up for the meeting and laid a program the
meeting followed.
In
his presentation the I.C.T.O RIC-NET gave an over view and background
of the E-society Resource center. He explained what it takes for an
E-society center to be functional and all the services that will be
involved at the center.
He also emphasized
that the center belonged to the people of Kyegegwa and not RIC-NET or
RWECO. He in this case told the meeting that the stake holders of this
center were the direct and immediate beneficiaries from this center and
this case the Local Government staff, Civil Society organizations (CSOs)
and the entire surrounding community.
In
his presentation the Executive director RIC-NET explained a number of
online platforms that are being used during the social accountability
project. He emphasized the RIC-NET was responsible for the design of the
district website and e-library and the District was responsible for all
the authentication and provision of the information/data for these
online platforms. He therefore requested the heads of departments to
provide the necessary and up to date information for the website that is
hosted at www.kyegegwa.co.ug
He
also explained the huduma platform for service delivery that would need
to be deployed in the District for monitoring of services like water,
health and education among others. Huduma is also hosted at www.citizenvoice.ug
A
number of issues were discussed during the meeting and actions points
made. Among others was to see the way to boost the speed of the internet
bandwidth which is the moment very slow and the sustainability of the
center after this year when the project ends.
The District pledged total support and maximum utilization of the center that is already set and located in the planning unit.
