KYEGEGWA DISTRICT RESOURCE CENTER


HOW THE RESOURCE CENTER HAS BENEFITED THE 
GIRLS/WOMEN OF KYEGEGWA DISTRICT.

The resource center is now one year old and various activities have been carried out at the resource center.
Among these activities, the resource center has involved so much and encouraged the girl child to embrace computer skills and this has been a success because the resource center introduced free trainings in computer essentials and trained various individuals among them includes:

Most of the girls above are in their senior four and six vacation and between the ages of 17-60years. Most of the senior four vacists have gone back to join senior five and testified that computer will be one of their subjects to offer at A level.
Miss Kukunda Olivia and Miss Kansiime Joyce who are between the ages of 17-20years old have joined nursing and are computer literate nurses in the making.
Miss Agonzibwa Aisha who completed her training at the resource center last year is now a university student of IUIU and says that the training she got from here has greatly improved her use of computer at the university especially in report writing ad research. She recently did interviews with the electoral commission Kyegegwa district which required computer knowledge and she successfully passed them now awaiting appointment for the enrollment officer job.
Miss Namande Caroline aged 27years a graduate from Makerere University trained with the resource center last year in various computer packages and was able to get a job with UNICEF for four months as there data entrant for birth certificates in Kyegegwa district and currently she got a job in Ibanda district as the biostatician last month.
HON Dr. Jane Rose Ngonzi is in her late 50s ad currently doing research for her PHD of philosophy in public management from KIU and a lecturer at mountains of the moon university fort portal. Had her training in Microsoft word and introduction to internet from center.  She testifies that the training greatly enabled her to type her research work and was also able to share with her colleagues on line via emails.
The kyegegwa community is greatly benefiting from the resource center and individuals especially the girls are getting skills which have greatly improved their computer knowledge now. It’s no longer a man’s world when it comes to computer knowledge but more and more women/girls have picked interest in learning how to operate and use a computer to run various activities.
The district resource center with great pleasure encourages the girl child to come and get trainined in computer essentials not only the girls but the whole community is advised to come and benefit from this opportunity being offered by RIC-NET organization
