VAT EXEMPTION ON WHATER,WHEATFLOUR SCRAPPED.


In a bid to raise revenue for the country, the government has proposed to scrap VAT from hotel accommodation, water supply for domestic use, and wheat flour.
According to the Finance Minister Maria Kiwanuka a Jerrycan of water from National Water and Sewage Corporation will cost sh40sh for the low income earners.

20% tax to be imposed on revenue earned from promotional activities similar to gambling while 10% tax imposed on money transfers which include mobile money .
Excise duty of 40shs to be added on petrol and diesel to raise sh 72 billion revenue, shs 200 excise duty to be added on kerosene in order to reduce the act of adulterating diesel with kerosene done by most petrol stations.
Excise duty on cigarettes has been increased from shs 22000 to shs25000 while 20% tax imposed on revenues from promotion activities that are similar to gambling
Motorcycle registration fees increased from shs 70,000 to shs140,ooo while motor vehicle registration fees to be increased by shs 200,000.
